OOC Mingle

Hello there everyone! Welcome to [community profile] gw2rp and to our first OOC Mingle!

We're very excited to kick this off and see what this little RP experiment might yield and we're thrilled you've come to check us out!

Tomorrow (Wednesday April 7th) we'll put up our first open RP post on the IC community which you can join in at your leisure, but in the meantime we thought it'd be good to have a little OOC Meet & Greet!

Here's a short form you can fill in to get you started, but you can add and subtract any fields you want!

Name: [What shall we call you?]
Contact: [What are the best means of contacting you? DW PM? In-game contact? Tumblr? Email? Only give out what you're comfortable sharing!]
Timezone: [Always useful for coordinating RP and discussions!]
Characters: [Share with us who you're bringing into the sandbox. List your characters DW username(s) if you've already made journals for them. Maybe include a very short blurb, any key personal connections, and perhaps some screenshots/art of your characters!]
What do you like to do in GW2?: [Are you a dungeon trawler or a Fractals masochist? Can we always find you RPing in a tavern in Divinity's Reach? Do you live in WvW? Is PvP more your thing? Or are you a pure PvE type? Share a bit about how you GW2!]
RP Wishlist: [What sorts of themes do you like in your RP? What would you like your characters to experience? What kinds of plots do you enjoy? Do you like long prose or short, conversational RP, or maybe a bit of both? Are you the type to toss replies back and forth very quickly, or does your RL schedule or writing style mean you're more on the slow and steady side? Tell us!]
Anything else? [Other interests? What do you do when you're not on GW2? Any other fandoms? What's your favourite animal? Share a funny gif? Whatever! If you want to add something else, toss it here!]

For survey-filling ease, here it is in handy-dandy copy-pasteable form:

Chat to each other, share ideas and plotting, and we'll catch you tomorrow for the open post!

Name: Hibari (aka Mordremothod)
Contact: You can find me at [tumblr.com profile] naughtili or PM any of my character journals. You can also PM [personal profile] mordremoth if you need to summon me with my modly hat on. In game, you can whisper me on hibari.9836. I'm on Crystal Desert (NA) because I've never once seen Tarnished Coast listed as anything other than Full.
Timezone: GMT

Characters: I'll add more characters to this list in coming weeks, but for now I'm just starting with two, only one of whom has a journal on DW so far.
Kyinnlen (lvl 80 guardian | Vigil Crusader) [personal profile] resolutefocus

Kyinnlen is an unassuming person. On the surface, he's easy to overlook, having a quiet sort of presence--he's a bit like the ground-covering vine whose roots are what holds a whole hillside in place: you don't have cause pay it much mind so long as it's there. Truly a guardian through and through, he's the sort of person who never hesitates to put himself in harm's way to defend and protect those he cares for. In a sense, his personality is quite submissive: he's not brash or brazen; he doesn't tend to argue; he's quite non-judgmental and willing to take a lot of things in stride. He's also intensely loyal and patient, and perhaps because of this he doesn't have much individual ambition or desire to advance. When he met his mentor, Sesyria, it was a veritable "love at first sight" experience...but only for Kyinnlen. Despite knowing that his love is unrequited and might remain so forever, Kyinnlen is happy just to work near Sesyria, to travel with him and fight by his side. (Kyinnlen also really likes to cook, especially for people he cares about--if you become friends with him he will feed you.)

Fraendryll (lvl 60 engineer | Order of Whispers Agent) [user name pending...]

Fraendryll is a bit of an oddity: a camp, flamboyant sylvari whose whole expression of self is inspired (though he doesn't know it) by a marginal human subculture. He's one part "butch" engineer and one part style-over-substance "queen." Of course to him there's nothing in the least odd about this--he dropped off the tree this way and he can't see why more people aren't like him since it all seems so totally natural as far as he's concerned. As a Whispers agent, he deals in gossip and in this he "hides" (very ostentatiously) in plain sight: no one expects someone like him to be culling serious intel out of the sort of idle chatter he seems to engage in nonstop. He's quite intimate with Shievr, but they're not an exclusive couple. There is absolutely zero love lost between him and Sesyria: Shievr cares about Kyinnlen, and Kyinnlen is in love with Sesyria, and Sesyria is a total jerk about it, and that is all the reason Fraendryll needs.

What do you like to do in GW2?: I'm a relatively new player to GW2--I only got the game in late January and I only have one level 80 character so far. I'm really not a gamer, so I've been given to understand that the way I approach GW2 isn't the most conventional. I do PvE, and I don't tend to RP while in game, but I also approach PvE content with a mind to character relationships. I don't like the spontaneous switching and swapping of characters to get the best advantage for a given situation. I suppose I take things as a matter of "character vs environment" where the fun challenge for me is solving how to make any given bit of content doable, even on a character who doesn't seem quite suited or built for it.

Currently, I'm working my way through Living World Season 2, and while I know most of the biggest spoilers there are some things I've yet to discover, so please forgive me for any lapses of knowledge while I work to get caught up.

RP Wishlist: I've been doing the DW RP thing for years on the fandom side of life, but since I started playing GW2 my fandom RP has lagged. My GW2 characters take up way more of my attention, but in some ways I know less about them, more kernels of personality and key attitudes/beliefs than full life histories. I find that I learn the most about characters when I write them--their voices become clearer, and I'm really looking forward to that.

I'm in the charmed position of living with my RP partner (who's also my life partner). Our characters all tend to have relationships with each other in some capacity because of that (which is great), but I also want the cast of characters who are important in my characters' lives to expand. I want to explore them encountering new people and new situations. I like messy entanglements--imo, negative CR can be a fun as positive CR. I also love seemingly absurd/off-the-wall scenarios that are played seriously and turn out to generate totally unexpected depth for characters.

My third person prose tags tend to be longish with a fair dose of introspection, but I also like to mix those sorts of threads up with shorter, more rapid-fire tagging. ...More rapid-fire relatively speaking though, because I am by no means a speed demon when it comes to RP. I really enjoy slow and steady threads, and backtagging is my bread and butter. I don't do short attention span theatre, and I appreciate RP partners who also don't flit too quickly to the next novelty.

ALSO, I am totally cool with playing scenarios in multiple continuities! I love to explore all brands of "what if," so I'm not wedded to writing only one "canon" storyline of RP. Let's try all the things and make multiple RP verses together!

Anything else? Ghost already mentioned that we live together. He already mentioned fandoms (which we share). He already mentioned intense RL schedules, which is also true for me. So instead, the weather:
