Hello there everyone! Welcome to gw2rp and to our first OOC Mingle!
We're very excited to kick this off and see what this little RP experiment might yield and we're thrilled you've come to check us out!
Tomorrow (Wednesday April 7th) we'll put up our first open RP post on the IC community which you can join in at your leisure, but in the meantime we thought it'd be good to have a little OOC Meet & Greet!
Here's a short form you can fill in to get you started, but you can add and subtract any fields you want!

Hakkyuu [
Human, mid-twenties, Thief, Order of Whispers Agent. Sharp cocky, and seemingly fearless, Hakkyuu can be unpredictable and unorthodox in his methods, but he will absolutely get the job done and as far as he’s concerned that’s the most important thing. Though he can be blunt, snarky and a bit of troublemaker, his loyalty to allies and friends is unshakeable. He also is prone to flirting (a preference toward men, though race doesn’t matter to him) especially at the tail end of difficult, long missions. He is not the settling down type. He won’t step foot near Ebonhawke or even remotely close to the Branded scar, but otherwise point him toward where the most dangerous situation is and he’ll head straight there at the word go. Or even before the word go, which is usually the bigger issue.
He's a bit on the short side for a guy, has white hair and purple eyes... He looks

Sylvari, 7 years old as of Point of No Return, Elementalist, Vigil Tactician. Sesyria is cool and aloof without actually being an out-and-out asshole, preferring very much to keep to his own space during his downtime. He is entirely loyal to the Vigil and the Pact by extension. In the Dream, Sesyria saw a man in armour before him, arms outstretched. Believing this to be the Guardian he awoke with, Dyriscal, who subsequently fell to Nightmare, Sesyria is plagued by the question of why the Dream would show him a path to Nightmare. Rejecting this path, and feeling cautious toward the Dream, Sesyria has instead devoted himself to the Vigil and unwittingly taken up an apprentice. He’s also
basically blindsees very poorly without his glasses. He didn’t awaken with such poor vision, it’s the product of a past injury. He has reluctantly taken on a student named Kyinnlen who is in love with him. Sesyria just might be in love with him too. Shh.Shievr [No journal yet]
Sylvari, 2 years old, Ranger, Vigil recruit. Bright-eyed and full of wonder, Shievr is one of those sylvari who is just a ray of sunshine. He loves finding high places to survey the land from and gets a thrill and joy for exploring the world. He is very much a lover of the Grove ultimately though and the closer he is to home, the more content he is. He can get a little timid around people he feels like are higher up the ranks than him (which feels like just about everyone) and he has an intense fear of the Nightmare Court. Despite his nerves, Shievr never backs down or runs away from trouble and would never leave a friend behind. He’s not the smartest in the bunch, but he’s cute and he’ll learn. He tried to be a thief and found he wasn't very good at it, but he's doing much better as a ranger. Especially with the pets. He's also gotten very close to a flambouyent sylvari name Fraendryll who acts like one part mother-hen and one part lover to Shievr.
Eiywryth [No journal yet]
Sylvari, 2 years old, Warrior, Durmand Priory member. Eiywryth is a sylvari who thinks she's a norn... Leaving the Grove very shortly after awakening, Eiywryth feels her greatest affinity lies with Hoelbrak and the Norn. An amalgamation of Norn, human and Sylvari culture, Eiywryth sees absolutely no logical reason why she can’t become a hero of great legend for the Norn simply because she’s a sylvari and no reasoning she’s been offered so far has satisfied her.
On top of that, Eiywryth is fascinated by the idea of human princes and chivalry and again sees no reason why she can’t perform the role of a prince or what makes such a role exclusive to men.
Closest to Bertölt, Eiywryth has effectively agreed to follow him wherever he goes. He’s sort of like her princess, except...not. At all.
Dyriscal [No journal yet]
Sylvari, 7 years old, Guardian, Nightmare Courtier. Sly, merciless, sadistic, dangerous. Dyriscal fell into Nightmare willingly through a steadily growing curiosity, leaving the teachings of Ventari and the Grove behind. He has some history with Sesyria, the two having awoken in short succession of one another, even though they each turned down very different paths once they parted.
Taking up the path of a Guardian seemed most appealing when Dyriscal figured he could the skills to extend the torture of captives as much as it could be used to defend allies. He is, in some ways, incredibly lazy however, only taking prisoners if he is especially motivated to and otherwise seems very content to wait for others to do that component of heavy-lifting. He would consider himself artistic, what with his interest in scarification. It’s a shame his canvases so often seem to disagree.
What do you like to do in GW2?: Waste hours looking through the bank wardrobe? :') Naw, I'm a PvE nerd and not a super good one. I love the game but I'm nothing special. You'll probably find me lurking in Dry Top and Silverwastes lately, or crying about how much I suck at Fractals but need to do them. Same for dungeons, but I find those comparatively more enjoyable.
RP Wishlist: My RP comforts tend to revolve around slow-burn and patience because I’m mid-way through grad school and can’t always be online to write scenes in one go, or be in-game all the time.
I like and enjoy both prose and short/minimalist quick-fire RP and tend to go with the flow and adapt to whatever seems to work between me and the person I'm doing the scene with. I basically like flexible and patience.
Technical stuff aside, I like all kinds when it comes to RP; plot-heavy stuff, things that make characters grow and develop, forging emotional connections and comradely, but I also like playing misunderstood and difficult characters for more antagonistic themes.
Basically, I like grey areas and messy, complicated, realistic dynamics. I like talking shop and I’m also happy to set up specific scenes if we’ve discussed something. So yeah, let’s talk shop any time!
Anything else? As I said above, I'm part-way through grad school (MA Sexual Dissidence with Global Studies) so that takes up a lot of my time and energy. I'm also very into sports anime and in my other DWRP life play characters from Kuroko no Basuke, Free!, Haikyuu! and Chihayafuru. I like pugs. And I'm also

Characters: I'll add more characters to this list in coming weeks, but for now I'm just starting with two, only one of whom has a journal on DW so far.
What do you like to do in GW2?: I'm a relatively new player to GW2--I only got the game in late January and I only have one level 80 character so far. I'm really not a gamer, so I've been given to understand that the way I approach GW2 isn't the most conventional. I do PvE, and I don't tend to RP while in game, but I also approach PvE content with a mind to character relationships. I don't like the spontaneous switching and swapping of characters to get the best advantage for a given situation. I suppose I take things as a matter of "character vs environment" where the fun challenge for me is solving how to make any given bit of content doable, even on a character who doesn't seem quite suited or built for it.
Currently, I'm working my way through Living World Season 2, and while I know most of the biggest spoilers there are some things I've yet to discover, so please forgive me for any lapses of knowledge while I work to get caught up.
RP Wishlist: I've been doing the DW RP thing for years on the fandom side of life, but since I started playing GW2 my fandom RP has lagged. My GW2 characters take up way more of my attention, but in some ways I know less about them, more kernels of personality and key attitudes/beliefs than full life histories. I find that I learn the most about characters when I write them--their voices become clearer, and I'm really looking forward to that.
I'm in the charmed position of living with my RP partner (who's also my life partner). Our characters all tend to have relationships with each other in some capacity because of that (which is great), but I also want the cast of characters who are important in my characters' lives to expand. I want to explore them encountering new people and new situations. I like messy entanglements--imo, negative CR can be a fun as positive CR. I also love seemingly absurd/off-the-wall scenarios that are played seriously and turn out to generate totally unexpected depth for characters.
My third person prose tags tend to be longish with a fair dose of introspection, but I also like to mix those sorts of threads up with shorter, more rapid-fire tagging. ...More rapid-fire relatively speaking though, because I am by no means a speed demon when it comes to RP. I really enjoy slow and steady threads, and backtagging is my bread and butter. I don't do short attention span theatre, and I appreciate RP partners who also don't flit too quickly to the next novelty.
ALSO, I am totally cool with playing scenarios in multiple continuities! I love to explore all brands of "what if," so I'm not wedded to writing only one "canon" storyline of RP. Let's try all the things and make multiple RP verses together!

Sylvari, surgeon and soldier. Frequently found hanging around the Reach, trying to stop bad things happening to saplings and bemoaning her latest drama. She grew up as a slave around humans and developed a conscience way too late to stop herself doing a lot of things she now regrets. She's opinionated, but sweet at times, and really loves cake. And people. Except for when she hates people. She's a true noon, blunt to a fault. Has been known to cause offence even when she's trying to help. Mostly when she's trying to help.
Mirasyth (
Sylvari, merchant and finder of rare and desired items. Miri gives not one rat's behind about anything but profit. She believes everything has a price and uses those values to weigh what she will and won't do. The thrill of the black market called to her, and after her business collapsed with Lion's Arch, she's in the process of making new contacts. Although she often portrays herself as sweet and friendly, she's been quoted as saying, 'Pay me a figure, I'll get you a ring. Triple it, I'll bring you the hand it was on. Triple it again, and I'll bring you that ring at the cost of the true owner's life, if they should resist me taking it'. She was well known in Lion's Arch for being the person you go to if you wanted something hard to get---so long as you were prepared to pay the price.
What do you like to do in GW2?: Just about everything! RP, dungeons, running around like a headless chook, saluting the Gods with naked-night-sylvari-glowy-time-dance.
RP Wishlist: I'd love more asks to my Tumblrs, for all the times I can't be on when people are, or when I'm stuck at school and can't load the game. I love having a couple of tumblr bits I can go back and answer and still feel involved in the community!

I'll try and shoot asks and things your way when I can, but the sense of people being online when you can't be or are in classes and whatnot is one of the motivations behind making this spot for RP, so I hope it can do something to attend to that for you too :D

Human,24. Elementalist(healer/arcanist)Senior Researcher at the Durmand Priory. Quiet, mainly speaks when spoken to or if trying to prove a point or win over a debate (and trust me, she's very opinionated) She loves her work, almost as much as she loves books. 99% of the time she can be found with some sort of reading material, fiction or no, or furiously scribbling away notes until the crack of dawn because 'she's almost cracked it, she swears this time.'
Ascalonian Decent, though thinks both the Charr and the Ascalonians were at fault, believing that both should be held responsible for their own actions. She actually prefers the company of other races besides her own (though not racist toward humans, she just prefers being around different people)
Very short, around 5'1-5'2", with rust red hair that once hung down her back has been cropped and cropped again,with blunt bangs and barely enough hair for a bun. She wears glasses all the time and just...tons of freckles everywhere.
Body shape wise, a-typical pear-shape, all of her weight is in her stomach and thighs with very little up top. She has three, deep scars across her stomach, but it's extremely unlikely that she'll tell you what they're from. She's very insecure about them and about the rest of her.
What do you like to do in GW2?: I've been playing GW2 for over a year, particularly on Kira, and I do just about a bit of everything. Mostly now, I RP until HoT comes out but when im not doing that I'm trying to level an alt or running a fractal or PvPing with friends (even though I'm terrible)
RP Wishlist:
Honestly, I'm down for pretty much anything. You want fast paced? I can do that. You want slow? I'm more inclined to it.
I'm ok with pretty much any type of RP, so run anything by me. (NSFW included,I'm willing to discuss it)
Anything else? I work full time, but I am at a computer which lets me reply pretty quickly to things. Not really much else preventing me from not being able to reply in a timely manner (though if something came up, I'd be sure to tell someone)

Honestly, everything you need to know about her can be found in her application.
Short of it is that she awakened six years ago. Dreamer through and through although she has a realistic view of the world. Typical nightbloom so she's not about to share anything too personal unless she trusts the other person. She's tiny, 4'9", but don't let that fool you. She can certainly handle herself and she's stronger than she looks.
I have other characters but Sahaeil is the only one that I'm really doing anything with right now. And she's the only one with a journal that I actively play out of game (I have two other journals for sylvari but haven't touched them in forever).
What do you like to do in GW2?: Make new sylvari and then never do anything with them (okay sometimes I level them). Honestly I don't do a lot else...
RP Wishlist: I'm down for pretty much anything. Most of my RP is spent in games but I currently only play like a handful of characters (Sahaeil, one fandom character and another OC who is not a sylveri but could sorta pass for one).

I was just reading your app and feeling inspired by it--I've been meaning to write a history and personality section for Kyinnlen and one for Fraendryll...actually, I wrote one for Fraendryll, but it was on tumblr and just as I was ready to post it my browser crashed and I lost the whole thing. I am still gutted about that.

What do you like to do in GW2?: Dungeons, PvP, and the occasional round of Fractals. I'm saving for a legendary (Bolt), so anything that makes me money really!
RP Wishlist: Something to do with her Wyld Hunt! I prefer 3rd person, but I'm bad at writing long pieces- I'll give it my best shot though! I mostly play with my boyfriend, and our characters have a lot of links, but I'd like more friends for my character(s)!
